1950s Mainframe Computer Parts Lot IBM 704 Switches RCA 501 Sage Control Panel:
$175.00

This is a large lot of early Mainframe Computer Parts I collected over the years.A one of a kind lot perfect for a collector as vintage computing items are getting very hard to find.
Haven\'t ever come across any others of these, and are likely unique/rare.
First are RCA 501 Read/Write Heads. The RCA 501 was introduced in 1958.These pieces were originally part of the RCA Electronic Data Processing Sales Department displayto show potential customers their cool new technologies for the 501 mainframe computer.Parts to the RCA 501 are basically non existent either in museum or personal collections. The smaller read/write heads measures approx 1.6\" across to give idea of size.
Second is a neat button panel with labeling for \"LEFT HALF WORD\" and \"RIGHT HALF WORD\"Also buttons for \"release\" on both sides and an \"activate\" button. This came from a source with SAGE related items, and my research long ago foundreference to the SAGE system using left half and right half word, and reference to this panels functionsthough I\'ve not been able to find a photo with this actual panel in it yet though, so a best guess. The components on the back allow this to sit slightly up, making it great to display on a shelf without having to do anything else.
Next are switches for a 746 Power Distribution Unit - Part of the IBM 704 System to control its power.(The photo of the 746 Unit is just for reference and found online, and not included in the sale)IBM 704 WAS ANNOUNCED MAY 7, 1954 - WITHDRAWN APRIL 7, 1960FIRST MASS PRODUCED COMPUTER WITH FLOATING POINT ARITHMETIC HARDWARE
123 IBM 704s WERE SOLDTHE IBM 746 POWER DISTRIBUTION UNIT WAS ANNOUNCED MAY 21, 1952Last are a lot of label panels made by IBMThese came from a source with a lot of SAGE related items and I believe are from a SAGE system, but not certain. These would slide into their respective slots where a computer would displaythe information for the given title below or above the labels. Picture during war time keeping tabs on flight sizes and missions using these.Titles include Action, Special Action or Airbase, Track or Raid Number, Drum, Field, Mission, Base, Flight Size,Scramble Heading, Battery Number or Wind Location Many of these are blank spacer panels also. The largest measures 19 1/4 long. blanks are around 8 3/4. The action track or raid one is 10.5\" long to give an ideaThey are all approx 3/4\" tall and 5/8\" wide. You get it all for your offer.Only selling as the large lot. No offers please. Thanks,
