2 Rare Vintage Mainframe Ceramic TCM MCM CPU Salesman samples, IBM, Amdahl:
$450.00

IBM Collectors of Vintage technical memorabilia, I am listing two IBM mcm\'s in that came from the home of an IBM Salesman. Please feel free to check out both sales. I am not a mainframe computer expert so I have had two IBM collectors give me their opinions prior to my listing these items. It is the opinion of both that these mcm\'s are non functional salesman sample. One thinks it is actually a new mcm\'s but that they have failed to test out properly when made and would normally have been scrapped. The other thinks they are mockups. Both collectors say that this larger mcm is from the S/390 series IBM Mainframe. However, they agree that a salesman would not be given actual functional mcm\'s to be tossed about and handled by everybody in creation. As for gold content in the mcm it appears that the pin connections on the bottom are gold. Some chips on top look gold others look copper. It is hard to get the camera to show this due to light glare. I can tell you it is cast in heavy ceramic and weighs approximately 1 pound 5.5 oz. Comparing the large mcm to actual known mcm units there are some top connections missing. But, in the case of this mcm it looks made this way. One collector thinks this mcm is Amdahl style. So, all this being said, you buyers will have to determine how much you would want to pay for an actual IBM salesman\'s sample. Keep in mind that these salesman samples are super rare in my opinion. The unit itself is not branded anywhere IBM but they have been identified by two other collectors as IBM. They came from the home of an IBM salesman. Why is it not marked??? The only reason I can come up with is that they failed the testing part of the manufacturing process and were destined to be scrapped. These escaped out into the world as a salesman sample. Please feel free to ask questions??? However, please do not ask me to take it off and make a side deal. This is against rules and questions of that nature will not be answered. Thanks! Disclaimer: I the seller of this item Dwight4501 contends to know nothing of mcm items. The entire description above is reports by two collectors as to what they think it is. I can only confirm that this large mcm came from an estate liquidation of an IBM salesman and they are being sold in As Is As Found Condition. offer accordingly. Thanks again!
