This 32-bit 68020 CPU vastly increases processing speed over the 68000 CPU in several important ways:

  • It reads and writes data in 32-bit chunks instead of 16 bit.
  • Its on-chip cache memory allows faster performance, even with slower memory systems.
  • It can directly use a 68881 Floating Point Unit for very fast math calculations.
  • v7.0 Boot ROMs allowing Kickstart/Operating Systems from 1.3 to 3.1
The A2620 is a 68020 based accelerator card that plugs into the coprocessor slot of the Amiga 2000. The card contains the 68020 CPU, 68882 Floating Point Unit and MMU Memory Management Unit. The 68020 is clocked at approximately 14 MHz, nearly three times the clock speed of the Amiga\'s 68000 CPU. The A2620 also contains fast, 32-bit wide memory to complement the 32-bit Motorola chips.

The included copy of Introduction to the Commodore Amiga 2500 contains information for the A2090 and A2620.

The A2620 Comes with copy of Manual, 2mb of 32-bit RAM, Latest v7.0 ROMs Installed.
