ATARI 400 48K RAM MEMORY UPGRADE PARTS KIT:

All the parts needed to upgrade a Atari 400 16K computer to 48K RAM. Note, this will require soldering and disassembly of computer. Detailed step by step instructions will be provided. Four jumper wires required on main board with several more on the memory card along with component additions and easy PCB board alterations. Must have a low wattage soldering iron. Uses your existing 16k RAM card. Avg time 3-4 hours to do alteration.

Completed on my own Atari 400 using supplied instructions.


Easiest upgrade is for those with socketed ram, as you can swap in the new 8 64k RAM chips. This reduces the soldering required for the upgrade. If your memory card is not socketed the 8 existing RAM chips will need to be removed with a solder sucker iron before the upgrade can be done. Includes,10 integrated circuits, and other necessary components.

This is only for upgrading the 16K Atari 400 to 48k. Displayed memory will be reduced due to OS and cartridge memory overlays. In Atari Basic you should see 37902 free after the upgrade. ?FRE(0) from Basic Cartridge.

Tools needed include low wattage soldering iron, solder, phillips head screwdriver, exacto knife, good eyesight, and patience.

Parts kit consists of 10 integrated circuit chips, 2 resistors, one capacitor, wire, and detailed step by step instructions. Integrated circuits will be shippedin a static proof tube to protect them.
