Used vintage Apple Macintosh 128k desktop computer. It has the red "Macintosh 128k" badge on the back. Based on the serial number, I believe this Mac was manufactured in the 48th week (e.g, late November or early December) of 1984. The computer comes from my cousin\'s estate (she won it in an "Apple-A-Day" promotional campaign co-sponsored by a Chicago-area radio station in May 1985). Includes the original mouse, keyboard, and box of manuals/accessories. To the best of my knowledge, the computer has never been opened, modified or upgraded.
Important note: The Mac starts up fine but the original OS floppy disk is missing, so the computer will not be usable out of the box (the screen will show the question mark "?" icon to indicate that it requires an OS floppy disk). I have seen after-market copies of 128k Mac OS floppy disks available for sale on but since I have not tested such disks, I can\'t guarantee that they will run on this computer (or that the floppy disk drive even works). Because of this uncertainty, I am selling this Mac as a vintage collectible ("as is") not as a usable computer. It\'s possible the buyer could easily get it running the OS with one of those after-market floppies, but I make no warranties or guarantees.
Cosmetically the computer is in good condition with some obvious signs of use and aging. Much of the original beige plastic appears to have darkened or yellowed over the years. There are some minor marks and small stains on the hard plastic and some reddish-brown stains on the rubber keyboard and mouse cords. I have cleaned all the parts as best as I can, so I suspect those stains are permanent. The manuals show signs of use (curled corners, some yellowing, etc.). The plastic accessory box has some marks, is also partially yellowed/darkened and has tape remnants on the sides, but has no cracks. See photos. Other condition notes are below in the list of parts.
If you have any questions about this computer, please feel free to send me email and I will respond as quickly as possible.
Shipping note: Due to weight and size, my handling fee will be higher than usual because I will have to purchase a large box and packing material. Local pickup is available (north suburban Chicago area).
Included in this sale:
Known missing parts: System floppy disk, MacPaint Disk, MacWrite Disk, back-up disks, disk version of the guided tour.
I also have an Apple Imagewriter User\'s Manual, Part 1: Reference if you want it (I don\'t think it was part of the original kit). Just let me know.
