Detailed Description
- This unit is physically in good condition with minor scratches, and scuffs on casing. There is a very noticeablescratch/scrape near the Kensington lock port (to the right of the ethernet port - corner).
- This unit comes from a stock of corporate spares that have seen little to no use. This is why the touchpad exhibits no wear.
- In order to enable 802.11ac, a SPI programmer was used to flash a custom version of the 2.7 Lenovo BIOS (2.7 is the latest available BIOS). This removes the wifi whitelist but involves disassembling the entire laptop to access BIOS chip. This is the only way to force the laptop to accept newer 802.11ac capable wifi cards. It cannot be done via the BIOS flasher in Windows or any other software route.DO NOT UPDATE/REVERT FIRMWARE. If you do, the laptop WILL REFUSE TO LOAD OSbecause it uses a non-whitelist wifi card, and you will be forced to remove the 802.11ac wifi card or swap back to original wifi card in order to get past BIOS block. Because this laptop uses a custom BIOS, the laptop will beep a few times whenever it boots. There will be no beeping if you disable TPM in the BIOS.
- Unit will ship with Windows 10 Pro installed and activated. It comes with a Windows 7 COA license which was upgraded to Windows 10 Pro.
- Restore media for future use is NOT included. You are responsible for backing up the system.
- Power Adapters (90w + 135w), 4338 Docking Station, two batteries, and 12.5mm slim ultrabay caddy are included. The latter allows you to replace the optical drive with a second SATA storage device.
- No warranty is provided beyond 30-day return, which starts on the delivery date reported by the shipping carrier.
Factory/System Restore: The factory Rescue & Restorepartitionis intact.Note that you cannot recover to the Windows 7 factory restore using the ThinkVantage button during boot.The Factory Restore option will be migrated under Boot Options in Windows 10 if upgraded as the option \"Recovery Tool - Restore your computer with a tool provided by the OEM\" under the Troubleshoot submenu.
You can also make a fresh install of Windows 10. A product key is not necessary. (When prompted for the Windows product key, you leave the field empty or click do not have. The system will report to be activated due to previous upgrade. AWindows 10 ISO/DVD not provided but you can download from Microsoft or windowsiso.net without the need for a product key.)
