NASA Apollo KSC EAI PACE Analog Computer Simulator Interconnect Patch Panel NASA Apollo KSC EAI PACE Analog Computer Simulator Interconnect Patch Panel

NASA Apollo, Kennedy Space Center, Electronic Associates Incorporated, PACE Analog Computer Simulator, Interconnect Patch Panel.

This artifact was built by Electronic Associates Incorporated (EAI), and was part of the PACE analog computer series.

The EAI, PACE analog computers are notable for having been used by NASA for simulation in many of the early space programs including Project Mercury, Project Gemini, X-15 and the Apollo program.

They simulated various analog signals associated with analog flight hardware and were used for real time flight calculations, differential equation integration, re-entry simulation, space station rendezvous and simulated missile and satellite launches. These patch panels used various cables to connect specific circuit paths depending on the device that was to be simulated. The last four photographs illustrate working versions of the EAI, PACE analog computer systems and one of the interfacing flight simulators used at NASA.

Search YouTube under \'Project Gemini Analog Re-Entry Simulator NASA Film 78064\' and \'NASA Apollo Lunar Program Re-Entry Simulation Film 78074\' for two short films demonstrating the EAI, PACE analog computer\'s use in NASA\'s Gemini and Apollo programs.
The panel measures approximately 9.25 inches x 6.25 inches.
A great display piece from NASA\'s early analog computing era!
