No solder ROM switcher kit for AMIGA kickstart or Kawai R100 - NO ROM\'s INCLUDED:
$44.20

RECYCLING NOISE SINCE 2001

This was originally designed as a no solder sound ROM switcher kit for the Kawai R100 drum machine, which stores its drum samples on 40 pin ROM\'s. The kit allows the installation of 4 ROM\'s which can be freely selected at any time using the supplied rotary switch.

When used as a Kawai ROM switcher the kit is sold with 2 sound ROM\'s already installed, but as a few of these kits had been bought by AMIGA computer owners as kickstart ROM switchers we have decided to also sell the kits with no ROM\'s included so you can use your own. See our other listings for the full Kawai R100 kit.

Please note, we cannot offer support or advice for installing this into an AMIGA computer. We know that the switcher PCB fits fine in an AMIGA A2000 (see the photo above sent to us by a customer) and purely in terms of electronics it will work with any AMIGA that uses a single chip kickstart i.e. A500, A500+, A600, A1500, A2000, but whether it would physically fit into the casing you would have to investigate yourself. The board measures 85mm x 63mm and with ROM\'s installed it will reach approximately 18mm above the socket it sits in.
Please let us know if you successfully install this switcher into any of the above machines

The kit includes the ROM switcher board, a rotary switch mounted on its own custom PCB, and a connector cable.

The installation guide for the Kawai R100 can be found HERE, Obviously installation into an AMIGA will be different in terms of positioning, but the basic principles are the same.

The kit can be installed without doing any soldering, although you will need a drill. You should take the same anti-static precautions when handling the kickstart ROM\'s as you would when handing RAM for a computer.
