The SonicWALL TZ 210 Wireless-N is one of themost feature-rich UTMs that we have seen. It includes a lot of great securityand protection features, providing not only the basics, such as firewall, IPSand gateway anti-virus, but also built-in Wi-Fi support with security and afull web content filtering suite complete with IM and P2P filters. Setup wasstraightforward.
The initial setup is guided by aneasy-to-follow configuration wizard. Using this wizard, the machine is prettymuch completely configured in only a few minutes. All other administration isdone from the clean and organized web GUI. This GUI is intuitive to navigate.The tree-based navigation pane is well-organized and categories are clear.
Policy configuration is simple as well, withall the security services organized in one place. From here it is easy to turnon the IPS, gateway AV and web content filtering. We also liked the manywizards that are included with the appliance. There are wizards for setup, portassignment, setting access to public servers, VPN setup and Wi-Fi setup. Thereis also an easy-to-read dashboard, which can provide worldwide attack and virusstatistics and local, near real-time statistics as well.
Documentation includes a detailed,getting-started guide in hard-copy format, which provides in-depth initialsetup and configuration steps for all the appliance features. Other manuals arein PDF format and include a SonicOS administrator’s guide, which takes overwhere the getting-started guide leaves off. It provides advanced configurationinformation. All manuals have many screen shots and step-by-step configurationinstructions.
SonicWALL offers phone and email technicalsupport for 90 days free, including firmware updates in the purchase price ofthe appliance. After 90 days, customers can buy support agreements of varyinglevels. There is also an expansive support website, which includes productdocumentation, downloads, FAQs, a knowledge base and forums.
At just under $1,100, we find the TZ 210Wireless-N to be an excellent value for the money. It is loaded with features,which are easy to use and easy to manage.
