Selling my used by fully functional Drobo 5D thunderbolt DASI originally used two Drobo 5Ds. One for my photos and the other for time machine. I recently upgraded to the Drobo 5D3 to have thunderbolt 3 functionality with my new iMac Pro, and store my photos there. But I still use a 5D for time machine. The second 5D is no longer needed.
Drobo’s customer support, in my opinion, leaves a lot to be desired but luckily their products work great. This unit runs between 2x and 5x 3.5’’ hard drives in RAID 1 or 5 formations and has a dashboard to show you everything. It has two thunderbolt 2 ports to allow for daisychaining.
Because I threw away the original box (live in NYC apt) I’m going to send it in the 5D3 box I got last week because the dimensions are exactly the same. I didn’t remove anything from the box but the 5D3 so that means this unit comes with a brand new power cord, untouched literature, pristine box (just disregard the 3 in the 5D3 title!) and the Drobo collectable tote. I’m also throwing in a complementary thunderbolt 2 cable since it’s not included and I found that to be annoying.
