Vintage 1998 Tiger Pro
White Mid Tower Computer
Case with First International
Computer PA-2006 Series
Motherboard As IsDescriptionUp for sale is a vintage
computer case from 1998
designed by Tiger Software.
It is a Tiger Pro white
case and comes with a
First International
Computer PA-2006
motherboard.
It has three large
bays for optical disk
drives/hard drives as
well as two smaller
bays for 3.5\" floppy
disks and/or
multi card readers.The processor that
this motherboard
has installed on it
is unknown, but it
should be a socket
7 type of processor
and there are two
memory modules
installed as well,
which I don\'t
seem to know the
size of, since I
don\'t have a means
by which to test
this computer case.The case exhibits
some light signs of
oxidation on the rear
of the case\'s chassis,
which is made out
of either a very
strong metal or
aluminum alloy.Although the case
was given a good
cleaning with an
electrical blower,
there is still some
evident signs of
dust build up
throughout the
case that will need
further cleaning;
such as on the
cooling fan for
the processor
itself, as well
as in several
hard to reach
areas located
throughout the
computer case.The motherboard
has four onboard
16-bit ISA slots
and four 32-bit
PCI slots as well
as two banks of
SIMMs and DIMMs,
which can total up to
256MB of memory.
The two memory
modules that are
currently installed
are single sided,
but again... I\'m
not sure what
they total up to.None of the slots have
any boards installed on
them and the I/O port
covers used to fill up
these empty spaces do
not match, however,
they do offer adequate
coverage from any of
the outside elements.There is a 3.5\" floppy
disk drive installed,
however, it does
not included a ribbon
cable, nor has the
drive been tested.
It does have an FDD
to pin converter
socket connection
installed on it, so
that it is backwards
compatible with older
ribbon cables.
Please bear in mind
that this computer case
had been sitting around
collecting dust for the
most part of the last
couple of decades and
was only recently
cleaned up.The bezel of the floppy
drive has yellowed
with age, and the front
panel of the case was
just as yellowed.
However, this panel was
removed and cleaned up
and then retro brightened
with Salon 40 Creme. It now more closely resembles
the white of the side panels,
however, there is a noticeable
difference between the two
top bezel covers that were
retrobrightened and the
lower one, as the lower
one was kept in storage
while the other two sat
on the panel itself and
yellowed over time. The smaller bezel was
also kept in storage,
so it is not as yellowed
either. Only the top
lower bay has had
the metal casing punched
out to accept the slide in
drives. The computer case
also has a HIPRO 200 Watt
power supply installed
on it as well as some
additional Serial/Parallel
ports with the ribbon
connections, however,
I\'m not exactly sure
where these plug into
on the board itself,
so they remain loose. The keyboard port on
the motherboard is
also the larger legacy
type of socket connection.
This socket has a slight
bend on the metal clip,
and should be bent
back into shape
for restoration
purposes.The LED and power
switch connections are
all hooked up, however,
they have not been tested
and the onboard lithium
battery should be replaced
as well (as this case was
just lying around for almost
two decades now).A front panel system speaker
is also included, however,
I\'m not so sure as to
what state it\'s in
(if there is any breakage
on it or not, that is) and
the plastic carriage for
this speaker had one of
its legs accidentally
broken when it was
pulled out. The leg
was reglued with
a hot glue gun and
now it latches on
properly.Some of the original white
factory paint has flaked
off of the top cover
of the computer case
and there is a slightly
bent section on the right
side of the case, which
I can\'t seem to find, which
doesn\'t allow for the side
panel to insert flush with
the rest of the case.
The side panel seems
to stick out a bit due
to this factory defect.Lastly, please note that
this case does not come
with a keyboard, power
supply cable, nor are
there any ribbon
cables or hard drive
included in this listing.
It is being sold as is
with no guarantees
as to whether or not
it will work. This case
can be restored with
some proper enough
know how, or used
for different purposes,
such as a custom mod
project for a more modern
computer form factor.Seller\'s Terms
