This listing is for a Vintage Qualogy (formerly DSD, Data Systems Design)D968GL Winchester Hard Disk Drive, for Digital DEC pdp11 systems, withQuad Height QBus Controller Card and Cable. It camefrom an H9642 Cabinet, where it was used by aMicro pdp11 or11/73 Computer System, p/n 11E23-RE.
The card is marked Qualogy, 1984, 800082-05, 840082-02, s/n 0142. It has 50 pin and 40 pin IDC connectors. The cable, marked 700354-01 Rev 1, Winchester Drive) is 50 way and connects the card to the main, 19\" rackmount box. It contains a Maxtor Storage Devices XT-2190 MFM Winchester Drive, a PSU, a Control Panel and an interface board (840087-01, Rev 2, 800087-01 Rev 2, 1985, s/n 0285). There are rails to mount one or two more drives, one spare cable, one spare port and one unused drop on the existing MFM cable.
Consignment sale for a collector who is downsizing. It came from a Micro pdp11 that was reported to us as working when last used. We tested the pdp11 system to power on and respond to the control pane only. While connected to the pdp11, we were able to power on the Qualogy drive and toggle the Ready and Write protect LEDs, with no Fault LED. When the drive was powered on while disconnected, we did see a Fault LED, which may be because it was not connected to its controller. Otherwise untested and sold as-is, officially \"for parts or not working\" with no guarantee of functionality or completeness whatsoever. Listing is for the drive, card and cable only with no power cord, computer or other accessories.
