This is about the tenth one of these little drives that I have purchased over the past 2.5 years. A couple of these are used everyday and the rest perform various periodic backup functions. (They are cheaper than the equivalent stack of DVD-R discs.) All of them continue to perform flawlessly, with no bad sector events or any other indications of problems. During lengthy write operations (30+ minutes continuous), the drive will be warm to the touch, but never too hot to hold. When computer is in standby/sleep mode or the drive has not been used for a period of time, it spins down automatically. When accessed it spins up and is ready to use in about five seconds. As with all portable drives I know, this one operates at 5400 RPMs. During writing of multi-GB files it is slightly slower than my externally powered non-portable drive that operates at 7800 RPM. Took a month and a couple days to arrive, got excited to open it, lasted maybe about 5 seconds and the hard drive died on me i went and bought a new power cord just make sure it was not the power cord, but nope it was the hard drive it self. this is ridiculous to have to wait that long to have a damaged package and damaged drive, wish i could have made a good review but unfortunately this is a bad one.

I wanted an external memory for all my music, since I dj. This product is great except, for it to work with my Denon system, I need a memory that has its own power supply and this one does not. I still have to use my WD My Book because of this reason. Unfortunately, there was no indication on any description that I read advising the lack of external power, my fault. Again, great product, very reasonable price but just not what I needed.

Just as the name implies this unit is very small in size but large in capacity !!! Setup was a snap and the all inclusive directions very user friendly! You control exactly what you want the unit to do & forget it !!! I use this unit on more than one device but it keeps a separate log for each device & you select the log you wish to utilize for restoring! Will buy again and recommend to all to try it ! PS: Uses "USB 3.0 & also works on 2.0"
